How could you inprison a teenager? I recently went on foxnews.com and found an article where a Missouri father doesn't think it is wrong to handcuff his 17 year old son to a pole in his basement. I can make a text to world connection to this because there are some really crazy people in this world we live in.
In the article the father withdraws his 17 year old from school in September only to lock him in their basement and feed him very little food. In the article they state, " 'I then observed a thin frail looking male getting out of the fetal position on the concrete floor around a steel support pole,' Officer Jonathan Stone wrote in the report. 'The teen was handcuffed to the pole and looked very thin for his height, with a sunken face and eyes that "had a look of desperation.' ". This is something I can relate to our world because it just shows how bad it is getting in America, this kind of stuff should never happen. The way our country is these days people do this kind of thing all the time and dont think it is wrong for them to torture their child! Later in the article it states, "He told police that his father would wake him each day at 4 a.m. to use the bathroom and give him a packet of dried oatmeal. In the afternoon, he would again be allowed to use the bathroom and would get a packet of noodles to eat. Later, he would get two bologna sandwiches and a glass of water before being locked up for the night.". That is not the way anyone should treat a child, he is a parent not a kidnapper he should be raising this kid instead of starving him. This is whats wrong with America because that boy will now think it is all right to do this and his dads parents didn't teach him it was wrong so that's why he did it.
There was another adult in the home and they didn't do anything about this problem. The article states, "Another adult in the home told police that the teen was "locked downstairs because in December they let him upstairs and he ate almost an entire bowl of fruit at one time."' That is no reason to lock this boy downstairs to a pole. The other adult should have done something soon as this happened! Also in the article they say, "The case comes several months after Kansas City police found a 32-pound girl barricaded inside a closet that reeked of urine. That child's mother is scheduled for trial in June on assault, child abuse and child endangerment charges. The mother's 35-year-old boyfriend pleaded guilty in October to endangering the child and was sentenced to five years' probation." This is crazy because it shows people do this kind of thing all the time. The police should give the parents 25 years in prision instead of 5 years probation and let them know what it feels like to be locked up.
Once again this article shows how messed up our country is getting. When parents can lock their children up with no food or water and feel right about it they should have the same thing done to them. The government needs to crack down on this and not let the people get off with just a slap on the wrist. I really hope our country gets better but it doesn't look like it is going to happen.
